Village Under 5's Pre-school has been established for over 40 years and has strong links to the local schools and services. We are based in the main hall of the Village Centre in Portslade, which can be accessed from Windlesham Close or the south side of the Village Green from Locks Hill. Here at Village Under 5's we offer a safe, secure and stimulating environment. We plan fun activities using the children's interests and linking to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

We have a large outdoor play area which is used daily and has a mini beast area, sand pit, pebble pit, slide, digging area, and a paved area for the children to ride bikes and cars.

In the main hall, we have a variety of activities to support all the areas of learning. We have members of the community such as Police Officers and Firefighters, Healthcare Professionals, and Yoga instructors come in to visit, and to give the children talks/instruction. Also, in the main hall we have children's toilets and sinks to encourage independence in self-care. (We accept children wearing nappies provided that we are made aware of this and that fresh nappies are provided.)

We offer places to children of any cultural, ethnic, religious or linguistic background on an equal basis. The pre-school is registered with Ofsted and we participate in a Quality Assurance scheme developed by Brighton & Hove Education Authority which is Quality Improvement in Learning and Teaching (QuILT).

We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm during term time, for children from their second birthday, up until school age. We accept funding (maximum 15 hours) for eligible 2 year olds, and for all 3 and 4 year olds. The Pre-School is committee run and welcomes and encourages parental involvement.
